Dynamic Headphones

Headphones with dynamic drivers are by far the most common type. These drivers utilize magnets, a voice coil, and a diaphragm to move air to create sound, like a miniature speaker. They are usually much easier to drive than planar magnetic, making them the most practical and cost-effective way to listen to music the way it was intended to sound.

While many dynamic headphones can be driven directly from a phone or audio player, most of the best models like the high-impedance Sennheiser HD800S will benefit from a headphone amplifier like our Gilmore Lite mk2 or the balanced GS-X mini.
