Digital to analog converters (DACs) translate digital audio data into analog waveforms that your ears can hear. Most high-end DACs today are the center of a digital audio system and USB from a computer, tablet or phone is the most common input with while SPDIF optical and coaxial have lost popularity. Wireless transmission is also on the rise - including Bluetooth, like with iFi Audio's NEO iDSD 2 -  and we list such models as Music Streamers. Many DACs also have built-in high quality headphone outputs like the Chord Electronics Hugo 2 DAC or Mytek Liberty DAC II; these are often listed as DAC/Amps.
