Sony acquires Audeze - What this means for you

We have just learned today that Sony's interactive entertainment (PlayStation) division has acquired Audeze, the California-based designer and manufacturer of high-end audiophile planar magnetic headphones and gaming headphones such as the popular new Maxwell. This is big news as Audeze is a core member of a small group of headphone manufacturers that gained a cult following among enthusiasts on Head-Fi in the late 2000s, and now they've been acquired by one of the world's largest electronics brands.

Customers are already asking what this means for the Xbox version of the Audeze Maxwell - according to Audeze, they will continue to produce headphones for non-Sony platforms and that Sony is encouraging them to do so. Management at Audeze will remain the same and Sony will be able to lend their design and manufacturing support to the company. Congratulations to Audeze and we hope this means more great products in the future!
