STAX

STAX has crafted electrostatic headphones or "earspeakers" in Japan since 1938. STAX chose the electrostatic driver for its ability to produce transparent sound and low weight due to the lack of magnets and coils. The minimal weight of the driver ensures a very quick response to the signal, creating a more faithful sound reproduction.

All STAX electrostatics require special amplifiers or "driver units" to supply the STAX bias voltage (580V) and high voltage audio signal.
