RE: CRBN2 Review
"Well, what to say about the CRBN2. Coming from Stax SR-007 and SR-007 mk2 for electrostatic and LCD 3 & 2 from planar as well as EAR HP4 and Grado PS1000 this is my experience. I think this should be included in reviews at this altitude. What is your signal chain? I would call mine entry level to medium audiophile. For vinyl, TEAC TN-5BBB with Shelter 501 III cartridge and Sutherland Insight Phono pre or USB or Esoteric DV-50 into an AMR DP-777 tube DAC (used as a preamp) to a BHSE amp and then finally to the CRBN2. The visual appearance as well as materials used are top notch. They look great are comfortable and not hard on the ear. They do something I haven't heard before, marriage between planar and electrostatic sound. The impact of a planar and the air and speed of an electrostatic. It's very interesting. I have listened mostly to excellent recordings on vinyl of late 50's early 60's jazz but also stellar SACD recordings of Patricia Barber's Modern Cool for example. These phones really work well with this music or anything that is recorded well. If the source is not that great the magic is understandably diminished but somehow not harsh or annoying. Different but for my ear highly recommended."
