The Sundara is efficient enough to work with many portable devices, but will sound its best with a solid headphone amplifier behind it, we recommend the Chord Mojo 2 for portable use or the Gilmore Lite mk2 for home use.

"I was pleasantly surprised by the Sundara. My 1st planar magnetic, I worried that it might be too bright (and I lean toward the bright end of hifi). It is not bright, My pair is very nicely tonally balanced, and I am a bit impressed by the bass extension; extended with a nice degree of timbre. They are good enough for me to briefly consider exchanging these for the Arya; I came to my senses! The only real worry I would have buying HFM in the future is their quality control issues., other than that I'm impressed. :)"

- The Sundara are not too difficult to power even as a planar-magnetic headphone. They can be driven from many portable players, but you'd have to check the exact specs of the paricular Fiio model as power output will vary.
