"When we first talked about creating the second generation of Empyrean, I knew it would be far from easy. With many ideas in mind, I reached out to our community, eager to gather their feedback in any way I could. I wanted to dive into their hearts and minds, to understand their expectations, and so their input is what shaped the path toward Empyrean II. What followed was a test of patience and precision. At first, the possibilities seemed endless, but reality showed us that only a few of our plans were feasible. We made a lot of revisions to discover the right proportions and materials that would deliver the sound signature we aimed for."

For the second-generation model, Meze Audio’s specialists have further refined the exceptional Isodynamic Hybrid Array driver design from Rinaro Isodynamics, delivering a step-change performance. The goal was to enhance the headphones’ ability to reproduce fine details and achieve a more neutral sound signature, all the while preserving the original Empyrean's “easy to listen to” character. Using ingenious tuning methods, Meze's team revealed new possibilities in terms of resolution and detail retrieval, achieving a cleaner and more accurate representation of audio.

Empyrean II comes with two sets of earpads, included for the ultimate sound customization, Duo and Angled Alcantara:
-Crafted from a precise blend of premium leather and Alcantara, the Duo Earpads introduce a contemporary dimension to the signature sound profile of Empyrean II. With leather forming the base half and Alcantara covering the rest, these earpads deliver a harmonious tonal balance that resonates across all music genres.
-Made of soft foam coated with Alcantara, with a fine protective mesh on the grill, the angled earpads excel at rendering intricate details and nuances in your recordings. The angled shape creates more space inside the earpad, which translates to an airier sound signature, with cleaner bass and improved presence in the mid-range frequency.
Change Your Sound
Rinaro’s Isomagnetic® coupling technology makes switching earpads a breeze. It utilizes the demagnetizing field generated by the driver to secure the earcup in place, while simultaneously redirecting the magnetic field back into the driver, thereby enhancing efficiency.

Wow, a headphone for pure enjoyment of music
"The sound is something one needs to experience. The is a headphone is for pure enjoyment of music with a big theater experience. This is a fun headphones and paired very well with my Chord Hugh TT2 as well as WA7 tube amp. I could have long hearing sessions with this headphones without any fatigue while the music is still engaging and fun to listen to."
Incredible build, toe-tapping, musical presentation while also delivering detail and accuracy
"Read a ton about these before purchase. HeadAmp delivered quickly and perfectly. Absolutely loving these. Comparing to my Hifiman HE1000SE, Focal Clear, Audeze LCD-X, and Senn HD600 these are by far the most ‘fun’. By that I mean, even though the LCD-X are more neutral and the HE1000SE are the most expansive sound stage and resolving, I find myself foot-tapping and head bobbing enjoying the Empyrean 2 by far out of all of them. If I want to get the microscope out for detail, the HE1000SE are best, LCD-X are most neutral but when I sit down with the Empyean 2, I can listen for hours with a smile on my face. They are far more forgiving on non-audiophile recordings (which is most of pop music) vs. other high end phones which can harshly highlight the flaws in most recordings. Closest in terms of fun factor for me is the Clear but these are even better. In terms of build quality the Empyrean are incredible. They feel awesome in hand, are super comfortable and look next level. The cable is amazing for a stock cable. I also appreciate the inclusion of additional angled pads which are super easy to swap and make a difference. Of my headphones, these are the best looking and feeling followed by the Clear, then LCD-X, then Senn HD-600. The HE1000SE feel cheap by comparison. Hope this helps as you consider your next purchase. Net is these are amazing. I haven’t listened to the Meze Elites but can’t imagine the could be close to as fun. I think these are at a sweet spot. They are effectively TOTL for Meze and are a joy to listen to."

"Wow! What a positive change Meze has made with these headphones. Some time ago I owned the original Empyrean and could never quite settle into enjoying them sonically. I could understand why so many people liked the sound, but not me. Fast forward to yesterday. I bought these Empyrean II from Justin after having read so many positive reviews and the reviews were accurate. I love these headphones. Of course they are superbly built and have great comfort, but the difference in sound is an eye opener. All parts of the musical spectrum have been improved. I love them! Justin, as always was so very helpful. I love dealing with him. Justin and these headphones get my highest recommendation!"
Perfectly balanced, as all things should be
"Build quality is superb and what you'd expect (hope!) to get for $3000 headphones. Sound is subjective, but very balanced "do it all" headphone. I also own the HD800S, LCD-3 (fazor / 2024), and HD6XX. While it doesn't quite match the singular strengths of some of these (soundstage of HD800S, for example), it gets extremely close and pretty much negates my need to constantly switch around headphones. Additionally, this is my 3rd pair of headphones purchased from HeadAmp, and for good reason--Justin reached out regarding my order and clarified a few things post-purchase."
