"These are the real deal for the L700mk2s or as an upgrade to other L series headphones that accept the attachment pins. I like the soft feel. They seal fairly well too. The pads are designed to be a bit on thin side which allows your ear to be closer to the driver which gives a more immediate sound that I like. I have also bought a pair of these to use on older Lambdas which improves their comfort and seal. If you do this, you have to remove the attachment pins."

"I'd been using the L300 Limited w/stock pads since release, but the artificial leather began to degrade over time (perhaps that's my bad for using them with damp ears at times... oh well). It was time for a replacement to avoid earpad dust from entering the stators. I'm glad I sprung for these L700 pads. The real leather is more comfortable and thicker. As a result, it's an improved seal for my big head and ears, with slightly richer bass. Regarding installation -- when you replace the earpads, I'd recommend removing the headband before you start. You'll also need to press quite firmly -- harder than I would have expected on these precious, seemingly delicate (but actually quite hardy) earspeakers. You'll be able to feel the little plastic pins squeezing into their seats, and you'll need to go one-by-one to make sure you don't miss any holes. Luckily, you can use the old earpads as a guide since they have identical spacing. After seating each pin, I also noticed that some of the creaking I'd experienced with the stock pads was gone. This suggests the earpads had never been fully seated to begin with -- oops -- but hey, now everything sounds better than ever!"
"I think most people getting into stax understands thats its not for their reputation for comfort and outstanding build, but for the absurdly good sound they put out. These are amazing at taking the stock L300 pads and making them significantly more useable, not just by being softer and having much more padding, but also by spacing your ears back from touching the sides. It stinks that the stock 300 pads are so bad, but these greatly improve my ability to enjoy wearing these headphones."
