The new Focal Stellia headphone packs a detailed, dynamic punch in a closed-back design, instantly making it one of the world’s premier closed headphones. The Stellia is highly efficient and easy to drive, but like the Utopia, very revealing, so pair it with a top-flight source, and clean amp like our Gilmore Lite mk2, to hear the Stellia at its best.

Unreal

"Detail retrieval, speed, and pinpoint imaging are the undisputed top tier aspects of the Stellia. All world class. Soundstage is fine, not as wide as an open back but not uncomfortably hemmed in like a typical closed-back either. Build is typical Focal and the pads are luxurious… feels like your head is ensconced in a comfortable, plush leather couch. Meaning they feel great to wear for long periods. Overall sound quality is amazing, warm with the appropriate amount of zing up top. Non-fatiguing. I know, more buzzwords. I have read about some wonky tuning in the upper mids, but I don’t hear it. Tuning is perfect for me. I use balanced with a DX180 with no EQ and I wouldn’t change a thing."

If you keep in mind they are closed back, it will blow your mind

"While I do prefer open backs for their soundstage, I live in a pretty noisy environment. We all know that even the slightest of noises can disrupt the whole listening experience. The Stellias deliver everything you want (resolution, instrument separation, dynamics, comfort, all of them top of the line), and keeps the outside noises where they belong: outside. Just be mindful of the trade-offs of a closed back before you buy, and you'll have some of the best headphones out there!"

Welcome to the big leagues!

"Damn. The Stellias are insane. Before I was listening to B&W p9 signature and tried the Cascade Campfire, both of those have very muddy bass (especially on the high end of the bass frequency). The Stellias have deeper base and clearer base as well as a waaaaay bigger sound stage. They’re simply gorgeous. I used Topping a90 discrete amp and d90LE dac to good effect, settler with the Focal Arche. This is an experience. HeadAmp was so easy to work with - got a demo, returned a different pair he let me try. No hassle. I’ll be a customer in the future for sure"

Stelia's are all they say they are and more

"I bought the Stelia's based on reputation and user reviews alone. It's just not possible in my part of the world to audition high end phones. My go-to headphones have been Senn HD800s and the original HD800 for many years prior. Problem, of course, is that everyone in the house can hear what I hear. My wife started a new business and her office is next to mine in the house. To avoid opening and closing doors all the time when I listen to music, I decided to take a chance on closed back phones. I had resisted this for years, loving the big, open, wide soundstage and incredible mid-range and high-end of my HD800s'. The Stelia's are simply fantastic. I don't consider myself an audiophile, but I know what I like. The sound stage is smaller than the Senn's, but then, what itsn't? Great low end, pure and hard driving when the source material demands it. I was very surprised at the wonderful mid-range; voices are out front where they should be, and while they can't quite match the "you are there" quality of the Senn's, they are very close. Fortunately, they are so good, I find myself picking them up even when I DON't need my listening to be private. While they are not true noise isolation/canceling, I do like the fact that they block out most sounds happening around the house-something the Senn's can't do. The build quality and design is impeccable as would be expected in this price range. They are eye-watering expensive for sure, but if you are serious about your headphone audio and need to keep your listening sessions to yourself (or you don't want to be bothered by most of what's happening around you), these are the ones to get. I am pairing these with my GS-X mini amp and Chord Hugo 2, all purchased from HeadAmp, of course! I use them exclusively for desktop listening of Roon dervied music."

Best closed back headphone on the market!

"The Stellia has an incredibly good tonality and is a genre master. It has the genes of Utopia paired with a fuller presentation and more bass. Sounds very open for a closed back. Currently no other closed back comes close to the quality of the Stellia."
