Dual Raytheon JAN6418 Triodes

The AMP16 revolves around its dual Raytheon JAN6418 triodes, strategically placed at the voltage gain stage for maximum sonic impact. These tubes provide effortless amplification with minimal negative feedback, preserving signal integrity and enhancing musicality. A JRC analog volume control ensures precision, while BUF634A op-amps drive the balanced output with power and clarity.

Tube or Solid State

AMP16 supports both tube and solid-state modes, offering versatile sound signatures. With 12V DC input, it boosts headroom and dynamics, making it a powerhouse for IEMs and high-impedance headphones alike.

Wasn’t sure about this one. .

"I gave this a shot just because my home system has tubes in my pre and main amp, plus why not screw around w a new option on a dap. I owned an A&K 2000t and to my ears the ibasso is superior sounding on its own. Plug the 12v adaptor in and it’s even more remarkable. I don’t regret this purchase in any way."

Tubey Goodness

"You have option of A/B amp or Tube with both being surprisingly good. Personally prefer the Tube option for the more analog sound with excellent vocals. The only thing unlike Amp15 or Amp17 you do not have line out option with Amp16 just headphone outs. Regardless is a great option for the DX340."

Amp 16 Warm Tube Goodness for my Meze Elites

"Love this amp card-have the stock Amp 15 and the Amp 17, but love the tube warmth the Amp 16 provides when listening on my Meze Elites. Thanks Justin and HeadAmp for always great service and carrying top-notch audiophile products!"

1st on was a dud

"Got a dud on the 1st one. The left channel did have sound. Had to get a replacement. No point of getting an Ibasso DX340 unless your willing to get the Amp 16 imo. I prefer the slightly warmer sound signature of a tube amp. The AB mode is also better then the stock, also imo. Installation was straight forward. I look forward everyday to getting of work just to listen to this amazing sound. I mostly pair with the Arya Organic."

Best Tube Amp period!

"After owning the DX 300, DX 320, and now the DX 340, I’ve used the amp15 (nutube) as the primary amp for my sound experience. I’ve always loved the warmth tube sound as opposed to the other apps. Just my preference. I didn’t think it could get any better but when I tried the DX 340 with amp16 I was completely blown away by the warmth that this provides. If you enjoy the warmth of the tube sound, I would highly recommend getting this amp for the DX 340. You will not be disappointed"

Lives in the DX340 full time

"When I first tried the AMP16, I was really disappointed. I listened to maybe an hour or so of music and decided it wasn't for me and swapped back to the AMP15 that came with my DX340. Don't be me - The AMP16 really needs some burn-in time to show you what it can do. After reading more and more people talk about how great it sounded, I decided to give it another shot after burning it in for about 20-30 hours over the course of a few nights. I can't remember ever having a device benefit so much from burn in. It sounded completely different from the first time I tried it. The bass was originally very weak and the top end was way too much for me, but after giving it some time the bass is much better and I find I prefer it over the AMP15 at this point for most music. The top end has also very much leveled out and feels much more balanced. The AMP16 has become my full time amp card in the DX340."

AMP16 Tube and AB mode done right.

"Modular AMP for the DX340. These are tubes done right. Good mids and no loss of higher frequencies and a resound natural integrated bass, with very little noise inherit to some tubes. IMO, the bass hits harder in tube mode. AB Mode is clean sounding with a good bass ass well. Both modes are very good and well done, giving the user an option to change the sound signature on the fly. Changing between tube and AB takes less than 2 seconds. The only possible negative for some is that AMP16 does not have LO."
