Our Take

HDB 630 is Sennheiser's answer for listeners who want one wireless headphone to handle serious music listening, travel, work, and everyday use without making sound quality secondary to convenience.

The real differentiator isn't simply ANC or long battery life. HDB 630 gives you several ways to build a higher-quality playback chain: Bluetooth, the included BTD 700 transmitter, USB-C digital audio, and a conventional analog connection. Add one of the most capable equalization systems available in a consumer wireless headphone, and there is considerably more room to tailor the experience than with a typical premium ANC model.

For someone who wants the portability and convenience of a modern wireless headphone but approaches sound more like an enthusiast using a conventional wired system, HDB 630 occupies an unusually compelling middle ground.

Audiophile-Tuned 42mm Driver

At the center of HDB 630 is Sennheiser's in-house 42mm dynamic transducer, paired with a customized acoustic system designed around neutral, detailed reproduction rather than an exaggerated wireless-headphone tuning.

Sennheiser describes the presentation as balanced and reference-oriented, with lifelike mids, extended but controlled bass, fine detail, and a spacious soundstage. The closed-back enclosure adds the isolation needed for portable use while retaining the more analytical priorities associated with Sennheiser's audiophile headphone lineup.

With a high-resolution signal, HDB 630 is specified from 6Hz to 40kHz. With other signals, the specified response is 6Hz to 22kHz.

High-Resolution, Anywhere

HDB 630 supports playback up to 24-bit / 96kHz through USB-C, its analog input, or compatible high-resolution Bluetooth playback.

Wireless connectivity uses Bluetooth 5.2 with support for aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, aptX, AAC, and SBC. For devices that don't natively provide the desired Bluetooth codec support, Sennheiser includes the BTD 700 Bluetooth USB-C transmitter.

The BTD 700 allows compatible USB-C phones, tablets, and computers to transmit high-resolution aptX Adaptive audio to HDB 630 without relying on the source device's built-in Bluetooth capabilities. It is a particularly useful inclusion for devices whose native wireless audio support would otherwise limit playback quality.

Parametric EQ & Crossfeed

The Sennheiser Smart Control Plus app goes well beyond the basic bass-and-treble adjustments commonly found with wireless headphones. HDB 630 includes an advanced Parametric Equalizer that lets you adjust frequency, gain, bandwidth/Q, and filter type for much more precise tuning.

An A/B toggle makes it easy to compare your adjusted response with an alternative setting, which is particularly useful when making small changes and trying to determine whether an adjustment is actually an improvement.

HDB 630 also includes Crossfeed, inspired by Sennheiser's HE 1. Crossfeed subtly blends information between the left and right channels to create a more speaker-like presentation and can make strongly hard-panned recordings more comfortable over headphones. The Smart Control Plus app provides Off, Low, and High settings.

“The aim of this tuning was to let audiophiles on the move enjoy balanced sound with extended yet controlled bass. Whether plugging in or checking in, you always get a front-row seat to the emotional content in a recording, down to the last detail.”
— Tobias Ritter, Acoustic Engineer for HDB 630

Designed for Everyday Use

Adaptive ANC & Transparency

Adaptive Noise Cancellation automatically responds to your surroundings, while Transparency Mode lets outside sound back in when you need to hear what's happening around you. ANC can also be manually controlled or switched off through Smart Control Plus.

60-Hour Battery Life

HDB 630 is rated for up to 60 hours of Bluetooth music playback with ANC activated. A full charge takes approximately two hours, while 10 minutes of fast charging can provide up to seven hours of listening.

Comfort & Build

HDB 630 uses a closed-back circumaural design with synthetic leatherette ear pads and a soft-touch headband intended for long listening sessions. The headphone weighs approximately 311 grams without a cable.

The combination of physical isolation and Adaptive ANC also makes HDB 630 particularly well suited to air travel, commuting, and other environments where a conventional open-back audiophile headphone would be impractical.

Simple truth

"Clarity and detail these are what I was looking for"

DONALD L. (5/5)

The Sennheiser HDB 630's exceeded expectations.

"The HDB 630 accuracy is amazing. These are true reference headphones even as wireless. As advertised, they represent music as it is presented by the source, without manipulating it. That's just what I was after. The soundstage is wide, with a great balance in neutral setting between bass, mids, and highs. Plus, one does have the option of manipulating the music presentation in the settings if so desired. HeadAmp was excellent, with great prices, quick shipping, and status updates."

David S. (5/5)

Well balanced and Good for longtime listening

"With a help from HeadAmp, I got a chance to preorder 630, it turned out be a right decision for me. They have high resolution to distinguish instruments and voices from music and the sound was well balanced over the wide range of spectrum. You can easily listen for a long time without fatigue in your ears. Only downside I found was when I have two connections with the phones, it was not smooth to add 3rd one and kick out one of the two previous connections. I kind of had to delete one of the previous connections. I might not be familiar with app controls. Still wired headphones sound quality is better but I can recommend this for casual listening or traveling. Noise cancelling was good enough to block out airplane noise during the last trip of mine. I highly recommend this headphones."

Soo M. (5/5)
