The SRM-D50 offers a complete electrostatic experience to plug-and-play on any desktop or audio rack. All you need is a USB or Coax digital audio connection, and you are good to go, for the first time ever from STAX! The amplifier section is quite powerful, and we think it performs a bit better than the SRM-353X.

Wow, what an amplifier

"I got with the Stax SR-X1 as this is my first adventure with electrostatic headphones. You know that this is the real deal when you pick it up for the first time, considering what you get for the price. I use it mostly as a DAC/AMP via USB to my computer or with my iBasso DX180 audio player. The sound is very nice, crystal clear and high definition. The amp device looks very nice, premium and somewhat of a classic style to it. I highly recommend it for the verstality, quality and price that is offered for audiophiles, especially if you are exploring this realm. Also, service support from HeadAmp. com is great as always!"

STAX SRM-D50

"You will know when you pick up the box, you have bought something substantial. In my opinion, this product is under rated. The reviews are scant, so if anyone's interested, here is a more comprehensive review. Firstly, the finish is exquisite. It's satin black and gray finish looks much better in real life than in any of the photos online. Secondly, it's heavy for its size. You'll know you got your money's worth when you lift it out of the carton. And thirdly, is the performance. This all-in-one unit performs well. What's it sound like? -- very clean, much cleaner than the D10, mainly due to the analog power supply. The sound is much more "open", with no hint of "grain". Not as warm and smooth as the T-8000, but good clean sound solid state sound. The DAC works well. Maybe not as resolving as some of the newer thirty-something bit jobs, but its good. If you have a better converter (as I do) you can always feed the analog inputs. One last comment; the inputs are quite sensitive. Observe the input meter provided and be aware of overloading -- keep the meter out of the red zone for the proper performance engineered into the product. Happy listening."

Excellent basic amp for STAX

"Sounds nice with the L300. The dac is decent. I had to return it because of soft hum in one channel."

A gift for myself

"I use this amp to drive my Stax L700 mk2 and they do a wonderful job of it. The sound that I get with this pairing is pure joy for me. As a plus, this amp looks cool on my desk. However, it does get very warm after a few hours."

STAX SRM-D50 Electrostatic Headphone Amplifier / DAC

"I\'e2\'80\'99ve been using STAX 007 MK2 with this amp and loving it! It provides added depth to the more portable D10 amp and was recommended by HeadAmp support.\ Thank you Justin!"
